I know from my own experience of booking a DJ for our wedding, a few years ago, that finding a good DJ for your event can be like looking for a diamond in the rough. The services / packages on offer, add-ons available, PLI Insured / Not insured, PAT Tested, Not Tested, information provided, quality of website, pricing, photos, videos, sample mixes, enquiry / booking process etc vary considerably from site to site and DJ to DJ.
There were/are loads to choose from also, so how do you choose the right DJ for your event?

Just my suggestions having been through this pricess myself recently and also been to loads of friends weddings thst hired rubbish bands and DJs
It's a good idea to make a grid on paper of what you want and what each DJ offers to compare. This will make your initial shortlist much simpler.
E.g. do they have Public Liability Insurance
Fully PAT Tested gear for safety
Old vs new gear?
Branded vs cheap Chinese gear?
Backups in place for every eventuality
Do they legally acquire music or rip from online sources
Will they meet you in person
Will they speak to you over the phone
What packages do they have on offer
Addon fees / hidden fees
Transport fees
Do they provide online Client Portal with secure payments
Do they provide contracts with all terms outlined
Will they play the music you want - guaranteed
What style of DJ do you want - club style mixing vs stop / start
How many years eperience has the DJ
Can he/she mix cross genre / cross bpm with ease.
Check their reviews. Do they seem genuine, do they have pictures with them.
You should definitely speak to each DJ on the phone and meet the shortlist in person. It's an important day and you need to be 100% sure you have the right fit. We got married 3.5 years ago and DJs vary considerably in all areas as we found out having to book someone that I was happy with lol. I wanted to DJ it myself, but I wasn't allowed lol.
